FAQ

Q:Where can we take your boats?
A: We have beautiful calm intercostal waters here in SUNNY ISLES and you can go South to the Haulover Sandbar or Miami and South Beach. You can also go North to beautiful Fort Lauderdale. Ask Captain for a map of the area and the best sights to see for the time of year you rent the boats.

Q: What does
Sundown Boat Rental require for me to rent a boat?
A: We require a valid credit card and/or cash deposit. Please contact us for details. You must also meet the State of Florida requirements listed below.

Q: CAN I TAKE PONTOON BOAT OUT TO THE OCEAN?
A: NO, the boat can not be taken out on the ocean under any circumstances. Intracoastal only.

Q: WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE FOR MY BOAT RENTAL?A:Customer must be present at the dock at least 15 minutes before a scheduled trip, to allow enough time to complete necessary paperwork required for all boat rentals. Please be aware that the time will start at the scheduled time reserved. For example: if customer reserves a boat for 11 am – 5 pm, the time will start at 11 am. The boat should be back at 5 pm. If customer brings it back more than 15 minutes late, customer will be fined $100. We will not provide any refund if the boat is returned earlier.

Q: HOW DOES YOUR SECURITY DEPOSIT WORK?
A: $1000 damage deposit is required for each reservation without a captain. Upon both the dropping off and return, the boat will get inspected for damage. In case any damage occurs, the deposit will be applied toward the cost of the repairs. If the cost of damages exceeds the damage deposit, the renter is fully liable for the remainder of the costs.

If the boat is returned without any damages, the deposit is not charged. The most common damages in Miami area are propeller related, caused by operating in shallow waters. Following all instructions, operating carefully and maintaining safe distances as well as water depths will ensure a successful rental with no incidents.

Q: ARE THERE ANY ADDITIONAL FEES EXCEPT FOR THE RENTAL FEE AND CAPTAIN’S FEE?
A:The rates do not include 7% Florida sales tax and gas. Gasoline surcharge is $10 per hour.

Q: DO WE NEED NAUTICAL CHARTS?
A: We recommend downloading a Free Navionics Boating App on your Smartphone for instant access to your location, routes and depth, as well as Know Wake App to acquire local speed limit zones.

Q: DO WE HAVE TO CLEAN THE BOAT BEFORE THE RETURN?
A: Yes! We highly encourage you to take care of the boat during the rental as if it is your own. Please return the boat in the same condition as you got it – gather all garbage in the garbage can and in case of any big mess, please clean it up! Otherwise we will have no choice but to impose a $50 cleaning fee. Thank you for your courtesy!
